Year End Report-2007

The LÉT had an eventful year in 2007. The first major event was a visit from Eddie and Carol Hendrix in March. They held a workshop titled “The Secret of Christian Community.” They dealt with getting along and conflict resolution, which is such an important concern for any congregation. The church appreciated their seminar and invited them back for the fall of 2008.

The LÉT assisted the summer camp again this year as well. More than 180 Hungarian children attended the camp. This has become a major part of the summer activities for so many children in the Szolnok community. We are thrilled that lives are being changed each summer because of the camp. Cloverdale church of Christ in Searcy has been the primary sponsor for several years now. Thanks to all who were involved from the US, Michael and Lisa Shuttlesworth, and the Szolnok church for providing this service. Three campers were baptized this summer!

In addition to the camp, Dr. Ken Hobby, professor of psychology at Harding University, and I held a seminar for adults in July. Dr. Hobby taught about dealing with tragedies in life, and I taught on Ecclesiastes. About 20-25 people were in attendance.

During July we also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the LÉT. It is hard to believe that the LÉT has been in operation for more than a decade now. Thank you for your support and prayers throughout these years.

In the fall, Dr. Budd Hebert, professor of business at Harding University, held a two-day seminar at the Szolnok University College of economics. His lessons focused on ethics in the workforce; and he, too, was well received. A total of about 180 people listened to his lectures. A good relationship was established with the college in Szolnok, and we pray that more doors like this will open in the future.

The LÉT has continued working with the church in benevolence activities in 2007. Clothes were distributed most weeks, and thanks to the generous contribution from Green Valley church of Christ, there was a Christmas package give-away for needy families. The church and the LÉT have helped the community in this way for the entire 10 years of the LÉT’s existence. A major impact is made each year in the name of Jesus Christ.

On behalf of Judit, Gyula, and Imre, thank you for your financial and spiritual support of the LÉT. God continues to move mountains in Hungary. It is a blessing for us to be involved in this way, and we hope that you, too, will feel blessed by your participation in His work.
